"Among the young ones in the community are those known as junior youth, who fall between the ages of, say, 12 and 15. They represent a special group with special needs as they are somewhat in between childhood and youth when many changes are occurring within them. Creative attention must be devoted to involving them in programmes of activity that will engage their interests, mold their capacities for teaching and service, and involve them in social interaction with older youth. The employment of the arts in various forms can be of great value in such activity."

Junior Youth Empowerment Program
We are pleased to share with you the dates of Ontario's Summer Junior Youth Programs.
In previous years, the Institute offered sustained gatherings for 12 to 14 year old youth under the name "Dawning Points Junior Youth Camps", held in a central location in the York South cluster. The increase in the number of junior youth participating in junior youth groups across the region, the marked rise in the capacity to coordinate the program and the emergence of a network of capable coordinators have led to the conclusion that it is timely for these initiatives to now be organized and executed at the cluster level. As with the Dawning Points Camps, each gathering will be 5 to 7 days in duration and employ a number of activities related to study, recreation, the arts, ecology and service. All these initiatives are being organized as day camps; however, if junior youth require billeting efforts will be made to assist them to find a suitable host home.
Below is a list with each gathering, its dates and the name of the contact person. Further information about each program and its logistics can be obtained from the contact person.
